Here are a few pictures of my recently finished jon boat. i acquired a vintage 1958 johnson 18hp outboard motor recently, and just didn't feel right putting it on a new aluminum boat.. I have a 16 foot jon boat with a older 9.9 hp motor. it planes out and runs well. i use it for my utility trapping boat, but fish out of a different boat with a much bigger motor.. Designers, plans & kits a to m: 16' mckenzie river driftboat plans and construction manual (from altair industries, ft. collins, colorado); adirondack guide boat (cedar strip adirondack guide boat kits, north ferrisburgh, vermont). You can buy bimini top frames materials in all hardware stores. frames are usually made out of aluminum and stainless steel tubing. if you are using your boat in freshwater enviroments then you should go for aluminum frames which are cheaper and easy to maintain.. I just returned from what i can only describe as a trip of a lifetime, sailing from valdez, ak to whittier, ak. i just wanted to express my thanks for designing such a great and expedition worthy boat..
